Photo Art Friday: Orton Effect No.2 Butterfly Medallion

The Orton effect used on a photo of a decorative medallion covered in butterfly's to look dreamy.

I seem to be on a bit of an Orton effect kick as of late. Originally the Orton Effect was achieved by sandwiching two pieces of film together. Since we live in the digital age it’s much easier to apply the effect to a photo. It’s a relatively easy technique to use but the main problem is sometimes it can be a bit extra as the kids would say.

A decorative medallion hangs on a wooden fence in a backyard.

The original photo was captured from my backyard. Butterflies are awesome, they start off as these ugly, hairy little worms but at some point they stop and work on themselves and then they become these gorgeous bugs that we all love and adore.
